Stags bring home four medals at England Athletics U23/U20 championship

Birchfield had a successful EA U23/U20 championship as the women win three medals and the men one.

Our women were on form at the England Athletics U20/U23 championships bringing home three medals ed by Louise Robinson who took the silver medal in the U23 400m hurdles with a time of 60.59 seconds. Rio Mitcham also won a silver medal the U23 400m in a time of 47.61. In the short sprints Gina Akpe-Moses was the bronze medallist in the U23 100m and Cassie-Ann Pemberton also won a bronze in the U23 200m.

A number of other athletes made finals with Tobie Watson just missing a medal in the U20 400m hurdles in which he finished fourth. Kaie Chambers-Brown was sixth in the U23 100m and Muslim Habib was fifth in the U20 200m. 

In the field events Charley O'Neill (U17) had a fine competition in the pole vault jumping 3.35m, just outside her personal best to finish in fourth place. Also finishing in fourth was Olivia Jones in the U23 javelin throwing a personal best of 45.64m

All three medallists have been part of the LDC junior Development programme at Birchfield and shows the importance of support for young athletes as they progress through the sport.
