It has been an exciting time in Birmingham with a fanastic Commonwealth Games. Birchfield Harriers hope it will generate a lot of interest from young people who would like to get involved in the sport.

To give new athletes a chance to try events the Club is putting on an Athletics Festival on Friday 12 August. This will be at Wyndley Atheltics Track, as we are still not able to use our home track, the Alexander Stadium. The day is aimed at 9-16 year olds but there will also be Birchfield representatives on hand to discuss participation, coaching, officiating, volunteering or opportunities for anyone over the age of 16.

Silver medalist Matthew Hudson-Smith started at Birchfield when he was 10 years old so this could be the start of a glittering career.

The Festival will run from 9.30-3pm and the morning session will be coaching in a variety of events by specialist coaches and the afternoon will be a competition. Everyone attending will receive a gift and there will be medals and certificates at the end of the competition.

We are asking everyone to sign up beforehand so we know how may athletes to expect using this form

Full details will be sent out when a place has been booked.
