In recogntiion for their selection for the World Championships and Olympic Games, Rio Mithcam and Saddam Koumi have been awarded life membership of Birchfield Harriers.
Rio had a highly successful 2023 World Championships bring home two medals from the 4 x 400m relays. Saddam represented Sudan at the 2022 Tokyo Olympics in the 400m.
In the traditions of Birchfield both athletes were presented with silver stags and they join an illustrious list of athletes who have been presented with stags. These include most recently, Matthew Hudson-Smith and Olympic medallists Dame Denise Lewis, Katharine Merry and Mark Lewis-Francis.
