There plenty of medals won by our U15 and U17 athletes at the Midland Counties Championships.

Thomas Bristol, a new athlete who joined from our Development Group, took the gold medal in the U17M 100m. Precious Akpe-Moses another athlete who is relatively new to the sport ran a great race to win the U17W 200m by a considerable margin. In the 300m Vihaan Sylva was second in the U15B and Elizabeth Fox-Payne was third in the U15 girls.

The middle distance races saw Oliver Cresswell continue his good form with a win in the U15 boys with training partner Charles Cunnicliffe in third. Joel Bent was another medalist in the U15 age group with his second place in the 80m hurdles.

There was much success in the field events too, most notably in the pole vault where the young squad of coaches Adam and Lizzie Lyons, produced some excellent jumps to take podium positions. Charley O'Neil won the U17W event as did Tayja McManus in the U15 girls and Alex Sethi was second in the U15B competition.

Leshawn Clifford had a good weekend winning the U17W long jump and finishing third in the U17W high jump. Rebecca Leach was another medalist in the jumps taking a bronze in the U17W triple jump and Joshua Bedward was the winner of the U15B long jump.

Our final medalist was Miriam Allen in the javelin where she took bronze.

In tough conditions all our athletes performed very well and many are now taking a break prior to winter training, so well done to all.
