It was the final league match for the YDL Upper team at Stoke on Sunday and the team needed to win the match to finish top of the league.
It was a very windy day at Northwood Stadium and this made it tough for most of the track events but there will still some excellent performances. Many of the athletes are new to the Club and athletics and it has been great to see their progress over the season.
U17 Thomas Bristol is one such athlete who came along to one of our taster days and then progressed into a sprints squad under the guidance and Pam Rayment and he has been a mainstay of the team.
Precious Akye-Moses is another new athlete and she has consitently won her races alhough would prefer never to run a 200m again.
Despite the lack of numbers of this event from many teams it was good to see Birchfield triumph on the day and we now look forward to the regional final in July and hope to see the team qualify for the main final in September.
