The first of the big cross country races for our endurance athletes was the Midlands Cross Country Championships and the young athletes did Birchfield proud bringing home a number of medals.

The Midlands Cross Country Championships were held at Newbold Revel this year and to the great relief of the athletes, but not the spectators, the notorious ditch was not part of the course.

It was a successful day for the Stags led by U15 Oliver Cresswell who was the champion in his age group. Supported by Paul Harrison (12th), Jesse Bradley (14th) and Simeon Swain (32nd) the team were also champions overall. More medals were won in the U17 events as both Ash Burgess and Emily Symes were silver medallists. The U17M team of Ash Burgess, Charlie Smith, Jan Malecki and Zac Yates were the team silver medallits.

The final medal of the day came in the U20M race as Max Price came home in the bronze medal position.

These medals were well deserved for all the hard work these young athletes have put in over the season.
