On his return to his home track Matthew Hudson-Smith was the winner of a very close 400m at the Muiller Diamond League in Birmingham.
After posting some fast times in the USA Matt was in good form and hoping for a good performance at the new Alexander Stadium. He did not disappoint and came into the final straight in the lead. He was pushed hard by his three top US 400m runners but held on to win in 45.32.
It was a strong field in the 400m and to reflect his achievement he was voted as the British Performance of the day. He was in good company with fellow Birtish athletes, Dian ASher-Smith, Keeley Hodgkinson and Laura Muir also winning their races.
We hope this is the start of a very successful season for Matt and hope to see him on the podium at the threee major championships which are taking place this summer.
