Kelly Sotherton Named As Team Englands Track And Field Team Leader For Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

Winner of the Heptathlon at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Kelly Sotherton is now taking on the role of Team Leader for England at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Based in Birmingham Kelly who has trainined at the Alexander Stadium and competed there many times will now be in a new role there in 2022.

Birchfield athlete, Kelly Sotherton, who has Olympic, World and Commonwealth heptathlon medals to her name, has been confirmed as Team England’s Track & Field Team Leader for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

With great knowledge of elite competition she will a great asset to the athletes as they strive for selection in two years time. Her role will be to deliver a world class team to Birmingham 2022 and achieve a high medal count whilst providing opportunities for developing athletes to gain a quality experience in what may be their first major championships. This new position will also involve her in in the build-up to Birmingham 2022 as she will be working with team staff and England Event Leads to develop opportunities and support for potential Games athletes and their coaches. This is a fantastic opportunity for Kelly and all at Birchfield wish her well in this new position.
